Un anno e mezzo in mezzo al letame della precarietà, tenuto in piedi da un nuovo cuore e dai suoni violenti, questa volta i tuoi e dalla voglia di dare fastidio ai buoni, ancora come ieri, ma oggi con il sorriso sulle labbra e lasci che si facciano del male da soli, e ce la fai senza quasi muovere un dito.
E poi ti svegli un giorno quando il fondo si sta riavvicinando e un’altra mano amica ti regala un sogno, un’illusione di stabilità con cui ti allontani un po' dal tuo mondo fatto di suono, rutti e qualche sberla, ma pianti chiodi e a fatica a prezzo di 16 ore al giorno in vita di meno, il rientro in una routine da week end, la voglia di un tetto tuo, molti giocattoli crea suoni che non hai il tempo di guardare.
E poi si torna a Roma... e lì il sogno torna, tutto si rimette come deve essere, tra la chinatown e il colosseo, tra monte mario e la nomentana, i ritmi interni scandiscono un "l’ho fatta forse" ed è tempo di ripartire...
Poi i Galli bastonati in uno stadio e ricordarti che due degli occhi delle superiori possedevano lo stesso sangue di uno dei miei nuovi eroi , ti fa sentire quasi parte della cosa... ma sono contento come e con chi sto adesso-

Tra il 1998 e il 1999 i REATARDS hanno chiuso gli anni ’90 piazzando due LP talmente spaccaculi che ancora adesso metto mano al cuscino per le emorroidi ogni volta che li ascolto. Soprattutto il primo, “Teenage Hate” (mai titolo fu più azzeccato), uscito per la spettacolosa Goner Records di Eric Oblivian, è un concentrato di Dead Boys, Oblivians, Blacks, Persuaders, disprezzo, noia e calci in bocca che non ha eguali. Dopo una quantità esorbitante di gruppi paralleli, ortogonali ed equipollenti uno meglio dell’altro (Lost Sounds, Tokyo Electron, Destruction Unit, Bad Times, e chi più ne ha più ne metta), hanno deciso di rimettersi in pista, anzi in pistissima, con una ottima reunion come nella migliore tradizione dei veri panc e roll e rockers… Yeah!
Quindi, di qualunque razza siate, tamarri supponenti o tamarri deponenti, fighetti stretti nel giubbotto di pelle o froci imbrillantinati col muco del nonno, finocchi che si pisciano in bocca o Betty Boop d’annata, Betty Page con le grandi e piccole labbra rifatte o futuri padroni di tutta una città di merda, rubate il cuscino a quella baldracca di vostra nonna e venite fiduciosi alla prima e unica apparizione italiana di questi quattro fenomeni!

I FATALS sono franscesi e quindi dovrebbe essere vietato parlarne bene... ummm, come fare? Beh, per addolcire la pillola si può ricordare per quali etichette sono usciti i loro singoli: dopo l’esordio su Nasty Product hanno piazzato due singoli sulle affidabilissime P.Trash e Yakisakana (lo so, cazzo, altri franscesi… aaaarrrrghhh!) e hanno da poco pubblicato il 4° singolo (bravi! mica come quegli stronzi che si lanciano a fare LP senza averne la forza; se so fare 7”, continuo a fare quelli, cazzo!) su Zaxxon Virile Action; oltre ad aver condiviso uno split coi gli eccellenti Evolutions di “Hail Fucked-Up R&B!”. Detto questo, potete immaginare cosa vi aspetta. Se la vostra idea di lo-fi è tale da ritenere i Superhelicopter dei borghesucci imbolsiti con suoni lustrati col brillantante, allora i Fatals potrebbero darvi soddisfazioni.

Beh, eccoveli qui, e questa naturalmente potrebbe esser la vostra unica chance...
Partoriti dalla mente di Ryan come uno dei suoi mille side-projects, i TOKYO ELECTRON hanno pubblicato il loro 7'' d'esordio sul vanto tutto italiano Solid Sex Lovie Doll, che è andato sold-out in meno di due settimane. Ha fatto seguito un secondo singolo su Shattered, già alla sua quarta ristampa, ed un terzo su Big Black Hole. Ed ora l'esordio su lunga distanza, sempre su Shattered (la versione vinilica) ed Empty Records. 11 pezzi di quel trash-punk'n'roll sound che Ryan ha perfezionato nel corso degli anni passando da label come Goner e Rip Off, e prendendo ispirazione da Gun Club, Oblivians, Plugz e tanti altri. Rock'n'roll eclettico di una potenza impressionante!!

David E. Williams here. Just writing to let you know of a very special event that Jennifer and I are hosting at Germ Books
Our September/ October gallery artist is Andrew King and he's a wonderful British painter of alchemical and classical themes. Some of you might recognize his name from album artwork he did for Current 93 and Sol Invictus, or from musical releases of his own on Athanor and Old Europa Cafe.
He's an amazing vocalist and scholar-- covering ageless tunes by people like the good ol' Knights Templar! -- and he'll be doing an acapella performance on Sunday September 4 at 3PM in the store (FREE admission - part of the Philly Fringe). I saw him perform in London once and it really defies description.
Here's how I tried to describe it for the Fringe Festival catalog:
"War and Plague dominate this a cappella exploration of occult themes in the British Traditional folk song. For over a decade and under the auspices of institutions like the British Library, baritone Andrew King has worked to preserve the authentic folk-ways and achievements of British vernacular culture."

Well-known for his visual contributions to underground music albums by groups like Sol Invictus and Current 93, Mr. King is also a regular performer of traditional song, mainly at the London clubs that specialize in its more authentic forms, but also at festivals, exhibitions and noise performances, where he allows himself slightly more opportunity to experiment and is invariably joined by a selection of luminaries from the post-industrial and neo-folk scenes.
Apart from his own ongoing field recording work (1996-present), he was the Vaughan Williams Memorial Libraries’ (English Folk Dance and Song Societies’) first CDR Archive project worker (1999-2001), transferring archival field recordings from 78’s to digital formats. Later, he was one of two project workers at the British Library Sound Archives Heritage-Lottery-funded “Traditional Music in England Project” (2001-2003), where he was responsible for acquiring, digitizing and cataloging over 12,500 recordings of traditional music and oral history. Since then, he has continued to lobby on behalf of vernacular culture, realizing that without more funding, this area of our heritage will continue to be marginalized and ignored in the unfortunate way that it has for so long.
King has also made it his task (since first hearing them in 1996) to fully identify, catalogue and bring to prominence the 106 pre-1914 wax cylinders recordings of English, Welsh and Scottish Gaelic singers that make up the EFDSS wax cylinder collection, a task which took a great leap forward last year when he located the previously lost Lucy Broadwood / Farquhar MacRae Manuscripts, eighty pages of hand written notes listing the titles, locations, and performers of the Gaelic recordings, recordings which prior to this discovery had been totally anonymous.
“Before, I had utilised many mediums and formats in an attempt to answer questions regarding the nature of 'creativity' and 'meaning'. I now know these questions to be irrelevant and the activity that they generated to be sterile.”
Thus said Andrew King in a 1998 “statement of intent”. He now characterizes his current artistic concerns as “the quality of the spirit of place, the celebration of one's native cultural heritage, the concept of faith and the balancing act between love and lust.” (the latter sometimes manifested, he admits, as “obsessive or unhealthy.”)
